The Centre of Applied Research and
Advanced Studies (CARAS) was established at Faculty
of Pharmacy, Cairo University in December 1989 after the approvement of the Supreme
Council of the Egyptian Universities.

To become a Centre of Excellence in Pharmaceutical sciences and application
with regional and global reach.

To help promoting pharmaceutical industry in Egypt.

To effectively use technological information for drug development.

To integrate scientific concepts in the context of application.

Performing advanced research in Pharmaceutical sciences and biotechnology.

Offering technical experience through continuous education programs.

Consultations for problems of pharmaceutical industry.

Analysis of drugs, food, pesticides, toxins, and environmental pollutants.

Offering experience and services to Arabic and Foreign Institutes and
organizations according to special regulations.

Application of modern technological methods for development of pharmacy
education, data bases, marketing and pharmaceutical management.

- During the past 18 years CARAS achieved many of the assigned goals previously established
when CARAS started its work serving the pharmaceutical industry.
- Bioequivalence studies:
- About 325 bioequivalent studies were performed in CARAS by different Egyptian pharmaceutical
companies as a requirement for drug registration in Egypt, or for exporting Drugs
to international markets.
- Stability Studies:
- About 35 stability studies for pharmaceutical products were
performed for pharmaceutical companies.
- Expert Reports:
- About 51 expert reports were made for pharmaceutical companies.
Reports include pharmaceutical, toxicological, clinical evaluation
of the products.
- Toxicological Studies.
- Microbiological Studies.
CARAS has mutual cooperation with WHO
with continuous exchange of experience and information in the different
fields of Pharmaceutical and Biologic sciences.
